Courage and TruthAt the last two Walking the Sacred Spiral Evenings we worked with the topics of Courage and Truth. We looked at the courage it takes to continue to unfold beyond our comfort zone. Not the heroic, once in a life time acts of courage, but rather daily courage. Taking one step and then the next without letting the fear of the unknown, our stories of what might happen, and our “what if”s get the better of us. Courage is not absence of fear, but rather moving forward with and through our fear. It takes courage to realign continually with what is ours to do in life. It takes courage to choose to unfold more and more of who we truly are. It takes courage to honor fear as a sign which can lead us to creating greater power in an area of life where we have been powerless. Truth. In exploring the power of telling the truth about what we are up to in our lives, we saw that sharing with others was helpful in aligning us with a greater truth about who we are. Sometimes we can’t see through our own stories about who we are and what we have to offer. One participant shared her desire to be more of a leader. In the discussion, others helped her to see that, although there is room to further develop those skills, there is great appreciation for the leadership that she demonstrates now in ways that she was not acknowledging. The truth is that she is being a leader by the way she lives and participates in life. That awareness and appreciation gives her a broader base, already imbedded in her life, from which to expand her skills. (A nice lead-in to gratitude!) Gratitude is next Tuesday, February 3rdJoin us on February 3rd for our next Walking the Sacred Spiral: Life as A Spiritual Path gathering. We’ll be looking at gratitude as the seed of abundance. How can gratitude and appreciation help our “gardens” grow? What we focus on we propagate. What are you growing? And how and why can we be grateful for “the tough stuff”?
